Empowering Through Education: HPV Lay Lecture with the Commission on Elections

Last February 26, 2026, we had the privilege of partnering with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and MSD Philippines for a meaningful and impactful health initiative—a lay lecture on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) awareness for COMELEC employees.

A total of 70 attendees joined the session, demonstrating a strong commitment to learning more about HPV, its risks, prevention, and the importance of proactive health decisions.

Strengthening Awareness on HPV

HPV remains one of the most common viral infections worldwide and is strongly associated with cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. Despite its prevalence, awareness and understanding are still crucial in empowering individuals to take preventive action.

The session aimed to:

  • Provide clear and practical information about HPV
  • Discuss its transmission and potential health risks
  • Highlight the importance of prevention and early protection
  • Encourage informed conversations about vaccination and regular screening

By creating a safe and informative environment, participants were able to ask questions and gain clarity on common misconceptions surrounding HPV.

Expert Insights from Dr. Bogs Rivera

We were honored to once again welcome Dr. Bogs Rivera of CerviQ as our guest lecturer.

Dr. Rivera delivered the lecture with clarity, compassion, and expertise, breaking down complex medical information into easily understandable insights. His engaging approach helped participants better grasp the realities of HPV and the practical steps they can take toward prevention.

His continued collaboration with us reflects a shared commitment to advancing HPV awareness and supporting public health education efforts across different sectors.

A Meaningful Partnership for Public Health

This initiative with the Commission on Elections, in partnership with MSD Philippines, underscores the value of workplace health education. By reaching employees directly within their organization, we are able to create ripple effects—empowering individuals not only for themselves but also for their families and communities.

We are grateful to all 70 attendees who actively participated in the discussion and to our partners for making this event possible.

Together, we continue to move forward in strengthening awareness, promoting prevention, and supporting healthier communities through education.

Three Meaningful Women’s Month Celebration Ideas for Your Company

Women’s Month this upcoming March 2026 is more than a celebration. It is a meaningful opportunity for companies to actively support, empower, and protect the women in their workplace in ways that create lasting impact.

Instead of limiting initiatives to a single day, organizations can dedicate the entire month to programs that promote health, growth, and recognition.

Here are three meaningful and actionable Women’s Month celebration ideas your organization can implement this March 2026.

1. Organize a Workplace HPV Vaccination Drive

One of the most impactful ways to celebrate Women’s Month is by investing in women’s health.

Hosting an on-site HPV vaccination drive is a proactive step toward preventing cervical cancer, one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide. The HPV vaccine significantly reduces the risk of cervical cancer by protecting against high-risk strains of the human papillomavirus.

      Why this initiative matters:

      • Supports long-term cancer prevention
      • Demonstrates genuine care for employee well-being
      • Removes access barriers such as time and convenience
      • Encourages open conversations about preventive healthcare

Importantly, the HPV vaccine is beneficial for both women and men. While it plays a major role in preventing cervical cancer in women, it also protects men against HPV-related cancers and helps reduce overall virus transmission. Offering it inclusively reinforces shared responsibility for health.

To maximize impact throughout Women’s Month, companies can:

      • Schedule vaccination days across March 2026
      • Invite a healthcare professional for an educational session on HPV awareness
      • Provide informative materials about prevention and screening
      • Offer confidential and convenient registration

This transforms Women’s Month into a meaningful health empowerment campaign rather than a symbolic celebration.

      2. Host a Women’s Empowerment and Wellness Series

Since Women’s Month spans the entire month of March, companies can organize a series of weekly sessions focused on professional growth and personal well-being.

      Topics may include:

      • Leadership development and career advancement
      • Mental health awareness and stress management
      • Financial literacy and long-term wealth planning
      • Work-life balance and resilience
      • Women’s Health awareness

Invite inspiring speakers, industry leaders, or wellness experts to create engaging and practical sessions. You can also spotlight female employees within your organization and celebrate their achievements throughout the month.

A month-long approach creates sustained engagement rather than a one-day event.

      3. Launch a “Support and Uplift” Company Initiative

Women’s Month is an ideal time to launch initiatives that extend beyond your workplace.

Here are impactful ways to do it:

      • Partner with a women-focused charity supporting health, education, or safety
      • Run an internal recognition campaign where employees nominate inspiring female colleagues
      • Organize a volunteer day to support local women’s organizations
      • Create mentorship circles connecting women leaders and emerging talents

Dedicating the entire month to these efforts reinforces your company’s long-term commitment to gender equity and inclusion.

      Make March 2026 Truly Meaningful

Women’s Month this March 2026 should go beyond appreciation posts and decorations. It is an opportunity to take action that protects health, empowers growth, and strengthens workplace culture.

If your company is planning Women’s Month initiatives and would like to organize a professional and seamless workplace vaccination drive, Pharma Quest Co. can support you every step of the way. Bringing HPV Awareness to the Workplace: Pharma Quest Co. at DOST ITDI

At Pharma Quest Co., we believe that health education should not stop at hospitals and clinics. It should reach people where they live, work, and build their futures. That belief guided our recent collaboration with Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) and Merck Sharp and Dohme (MSD) to deliver a two-day Workplace HPV Education and Cervical Cancer Prevention Initiative for their employees.

Over 600 staff members from different divisions of DOST ITDI took part in this program, joining a series of interactive learning sessions led by Dr. Bogs Rivera, Founder of CerviQ. He guided participants through essential topics, including human papillomavirus (HPV), cervical cancer prevention, early screening, and the role of vaccination in reducing long term risk.

HPV is one of the most common viral infections worldwide and a leading cause of cervical cancer. Yet many people are still unaware of how it spreads, how it can be detected early, and how vaccination can significantly lower the chances of developing cancer. Through this initiative, Pharma Quest Co. helped open meaningful conversations around these topics in a setting that encouraged openness, questions, and shared responsibility for health.

This program would not have been possible without the strong leadership of Dr. Janet Quizon and the dedicated coordination of Nurse Ma. Katherine Laureano. Their support ensured that the sessions reached employees across the institute and created momentum beyond awareness alone.

What makes this initiative especially encouraging is that it does not end with education. Discussions are now underway to explore how HPV vaccination can be supported through the GAD Program, with the hope of making preventive care more accessible to employees in the near future.

For Pharma Quest Co., this is what preventive healthcare looks like in action:

      Knowledge that builds confidence
Confidence that leads to early action
      Action that protects lives

By bringing cancer prevention into the workplace, we take a meaningful step toward a future where cervical cancer is no longer a threat. And we are proud to stand with our partners and the DOST ITDI community in making that future possible.

Preparing for Flu Season: A Guide for Companies

Preparing for Flu Season 2024: A Guide for Companies

As the seasons change, so does the threat of influenza. The flu can have a significant impact on businesses, leading to increased absenteeism, decreased productivity, and potential financial losses. To navigate flu season successfully, it’s crucial for companies to take proactive measures. In this guide, we’ll explore practical tips for companies to prepare for flu season in 2024, with a strong emphasis on the importance of getting employees vaccinated.

      Encourage and Facilitate Employee Vaccination:

The cornerstone of flu season preparedness is promoting and facilitating employee vaccination. Encourage all employees to get their flu shots, and consider offering on-site vaccination clinics. Collaborate with local healthcare providers or arrange partnerships with nearby pharmacies to make the vaccination process convenient for employees.

Educate Employees on the Benefits of Vaccination:

Many individuals may be hesitant to get vaccinated due to misconceptions or fears. Combat this by providing educational materials that highlight the importance of flu vaccination. Emphasize how it not only protects the individual but also contributes to the overall well-being of the workplace by reducing the spread of illness.

      Implement Flexible Sick Leave Policies:

Encourage a culture of responsibility by implementing flexible sick leave policies. Employees should feel comfortable taking time off when they are unwell without the fear of repercussions. This not only promotes a healthier workplace but also helps prevent the spread of the flu within the company.

      Promote Good Hygiene Practices:

Reinforce the importance of good hygiene practices to prevent the spread of the flu virus. Provide hand sanitizers throughout the office, encourage frequent handwashing, and promote respiratory etiquette, such as covering mouths and noses with tissues or elbows when coughing or sneezing.

      Enhance Cleaning Protocols:

Increase the frequency and intensity of workplace cleaning during flu season. Pay special attention to commonly touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, and shared equipment. Providing disinfectant wipes for employees to clean their own workspaces can also be an effective measure.

      Remote Work Options:

In the age of flexible work arrangements, consider allowing employees to work remotely if they are feeling unwell or showing flu-like symptoms. This not only prevents the spread of illness within the office but also supports employee well-being.

      Communication and Awareness Campaigns:

Keep employees informed about flu season preparedness through regular communication channels. Utilize emails, newsletters, posters, and intranet announcements to remind employees of vaccination opportunities, hygiene practices, and other preventive measures.

As flu season approaches, companies need to prioritize the health and well-being of their employees. By actively promoting and facilitating flu vaccinations, implementing flexible sick leave policies, and emphasizing good hygiene practices, businesses can create a healthier work environment and mitigate the impact of the flu on productivity. Proactive measures not only benefit individual employees but also contribute to the overall resilience of the company during the flu season of 2024.

The Benefits of Getting Vaccinated: Protecting Yourself and Others

Vaccines have been one of the greatest medical advancements in history, playing a crucial role in controlling and eradicating numerous diseases that were once widespread and deadly. In the past few decades, vaccines have prevented millions of illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths, both in individual communities and globally. With the current COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of getting vaccinated has become more apparent than ever.

We can help your community take advantage of the benefits vaccination gives. Click here to learn more.

Here are some of the key benefits of getting vaccinated:

      1. Protecting Yourself: By getting vaccinated, you can significantly reduce your risk of getting sick from a variety of diseases, including COVID-19, measles, chickenpox, polio, and many others. This is particularly important for those with underlying health conditions, pregnant women, and elderly individuals, who are at higher risk of serious illness and death from vaccine-preventable diseases.
      2. Protecting Your Community: When a large percentage of the population is vaccinated, it helps create herd immunity, which makes it much more difficult for a disease to spread from person to person. This, in turn, protects those who are unable to get vaccinated, such as newborns, people with certain medical conditions, and those with weakened immune systems.
      3. Preventing Outbreaks: Vaccines have been instrumental in controlling and eradicating smallpox, polio, and measles. By vaccinating, you help prevent future outbreaks of these and other diseases and reduce the need for widespread quarantines and lockdowns.
      4. Cost-Effective: While getting vaccinated may come with an upfront cost, it is much more cost-effective than getting sick and having to pay for medical treatment. This is especially true for those who require hospitalization, as it can result in significant medical bills that can have long-term financial consequences.
      5. Traveling Abroad: Depending on your destination, getting vaccinated may be a requirement for entry. This is particularly important for those traveling to countries with higher rates of vaccine-preventable diseases, as getting sick while abroad can result in high costs and disruptions to your travels.

      Conclusion

Getting vaccinated is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself and others from disease. With the availability of vaccines for many diseases, including COVID-19, it is never been easier or more important to get vaccinated. By doing so, you can help protect yourself, your community, and future generations from the devastating consequences of preventable diseases.

      What Vaccines Are Recommended?

While the recommendations may vary depending on age, lifestyle, health conditions, and occupation, there are common recommendations such as the flu vaccine, Tdap vaccine, HPV vaccine, pneumonia vaccine, MMR vaccine, and hepatitis A and B vaccines. These recommendations came from the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, and the Department of Health of the Philippines.

      • The influenza (flu) vaccine is recommended to get annually because the strain differs each year
      • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccines are recommended every 10 years, especially for emergency workers such as police officers and firefighters.
      • The Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is a series of 2-3 doses and is recommended for ages 11 or 12 but is also recommended for adults 26 years or older who were not adequately vaccinated with HPV when they were younger.
      • The pneumococcal (pneumonia) vaccine is recommended depending on age and other risk factors.
      • The measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccines are recommended if not previously vaccinated or if immunity is uncertain. This is recommended for healthcare workers, people who are working with children such as teachers or school administrators, uniformed personnel, and for immigration officers.
      • Hepatitis A vaccine: typically recommended for people at high risk of infection, such as those who travel to areas with high rates of hepatitis A, men who have sex with men, and people with chronic liver disease.
      • Hepatitis B vaccine: typically recommended for people at high risk of infection, such as healthcare workers, people with multiple sex partners, people with chronic liver disease, people with HIV, and those who inject drugs.

However, we always recommend consulting with a doctor or healthcare professional before proceeding with any vaccination.

Vaccine Fatigue: Understanding and Overcoming the Feeling

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact communities around the world, many people are experiencing vaccine fatigue. This feeling of burnout, frustration, or disinterest can make it difficult to stay motivated about getting vaccinated. In this blog post, we’ll explore what vaccine fatigue is, its causes, and how you can overcome it.

      What is Vaccine Fatigue?

Vaccine fatigue refers to the growing sense of exhaustion or boredom that people experience when faced with the constant talk, information, and pressure surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine. After a year of the pandemic, many people feel like they’ve heard all the arguments, seen all the statistics, and been bombarded with constant updates about the vaccine. This can lead to a sense of overwhelm and disinterest in getting vaccinated.

We can help you plan a vaccination program, click here to know more.

      Causes of Vaccine Fatigue

Vaccine fatigue is caused by a combination of factors, including:

      1. Information overload: The constant flow of information about the COVID-19 vaccine can be overwhelming and exhausting.
      2. Fear of side effects: Some people may be hesitant to get vaccinated because they fear potential side effects.
      3. Skepticism of the vaccine: There is a significant amount of misinformation and conspiracy theories surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine.
      4. Lack of access: For some people, access to the vaccine may be limited, causing frustration and fatigue.

      Overcoming Vaccine Fatigue

If you’re feeling vaccine fatigue, here are a few tips to help you overcome it:

      1. Get accurate information: Make sure you’re getting your information from reputable sources like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or the World Health Organization (WHO) or the Department of Health (DOH).
      2. Talk to a healthcare professional: If you’re concerned about side effects or other questions, talk to a healthcare professional who can provide you with accurate information.
      3. Seek out support: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, reach out to friends, family, or a support group for encouragement.
      4. Be patient: The COVID-19 vaccine rollout is a massive effort, and it may take some time before everyone has access to the vaccine. Try to be patient and understanding as the process continues.

Getting vaccinated is an important step in ending the COVID-19 pandemic, getting protected against vaccine-preventable diseases, and returning to a sense of normalcy. By understanding and overcoming vaccine fatigue, we can all do our part in protecting ourselves and our communities.
